The average adult drinks one to two quarts of water daily. Much of it is the form of coffee, tea, softdrinks, fruit juice, wine, beer, and spirits.
Coffee and tea have some nutritive value. Coffee contains niacin while tea has manganese and fluoride. Healthy practices avoid coffee for its high-caffeine content which can lead to caffeine-induced hyperactivity and headaches. Some athletes though take a cup of coffee before a competition in order to give themselves a boost or an “upper.” Herbal teas like manzanilla, camomile, mint, tanglad (lemon grass), pandan have a calming effect on the body and good digestives.
