bones

Bones are living tissues that are in constant process of breakdown and repair– trough this cycle, our entire skeleton is renewed every 10 yrs. While much of this regeneration occurs unnoticed, it’s still important to us to aid the repair process by ensuring bone health.
As we grow older, we can become vulnerable to osteoporosis, a disease which increases bone fragility–making them more likely to break.  This disease affects both men and women, but women in their menopause years who are at higher risk because of the extreme drop in estrogen levels. Asian women, in particular, are more vulnerable because they have thinner bones than their Caucasian counterparts.  In fact, one out of two Asian women is at risk of osteoporosis.
To decrease our chances of being stricken by this silent bone killer, here’s what you can do: Adopt a healthy lifestyle. you know the drill: quit smoking, limit alcohol intake, exercise regularly and make sure your diet has enough calcium, vitamin D and magnesium.
